The first term English book for 7th standard prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu comprises three units. It also includes the poem 'The Computer Swallowed Grandma' and the supplementary reader 'On Monday Morning,' adapted from Mark Twain's 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.' Unit 2 presents 'The Wind on Haunted Hill' by Ruskin Bond, a mystery about three children seeking shelter in a haunted house during a storm, alongside the poem 'The Listeners' and the supplementary reader 'The Red-Headed League.' Unit 3 contains a speech by Subroto Bagchi, the founder and CEO of Mindtree, highlighting the significance of education and teachers' roles in imparting life values, complemented by the poem 'Your Space' and the supplementary reader 'Taking the Bully by the Horns.'
